Then we went for a late lunch at Cafe Ara, right beside the Galata Lycee. I posted its gates earlier. The Lycee is famous for having educated some prominent statesmen an academicians. It was established at the 19th century as an adjunct to the lycee in the Topkapi Palace. Now I am not sure if the lycee here means high school or college.
Cafe Ara is named after Istanbul's most famous photographer, ARA GULER, whose metier is black and white. He has done for Istanbul what Henri Cartier Bresson did for Paris with his black and white photos. In fact they were friends. Enjoy some of his photos I posted. It is a great cafe and has good food.
