Last night at around 6PM when there was still plenty of light we decided to go back to the main drag (Istiklal cadessi or independence st.) to get some dinner. We were greeted by a marching demonstration of the turkish communist party. It was a peaceful and common march according to a shopkeeper. The hundreds of people going about their business during rush hour paid no attention to them except for the police force at the ready. Only tourists like us gawked and took photos.
